Awilda Rodríguez Lora/La Performera

My gender, ethnicity and sexuality are always entwined in the story told with the movement, text, digital images and sound I create. Presenting an exposed performer is not only part of the process but it is itself the art I present. The purpose of my art is to ignite human transformations of the physical and emotional self. The used of digital technology is a tool to capture memory. The work is strongly informed by the memories we live and create as we coexist in this moment now that then speaks of yesterday and moves forward as movement can only go. It is of extreme importance that the private becomes public presenting the human experience in an autobiographical format that together with the play of the audience/witness in the improvisational quality that the work always dances to…the work/art is then experienced.
