Tina Satter/Half Straddle

Tina Satter is a Brooklyn-based writer and director who makes plays, performances and videos. She is Artistic Director of the theater and performance ensemble Half Straddle, whose work has been presented nationally and internationally. Honors include a Doris Duke Impact Artist Award (2014), an Obie Award (2013) and being named “Off-Off Broadway Innovators to Watch” by Time Out New York (2011). Her most recent show, Ancient Lives, premiered at The Kitchen in January 2015. House of Dance opened in 2013, commissioned by Richard Maxwell’s New York City Players. Satter has had residencies at Yaddo, The Performing Garage, Kitchen L.A.B, MASS MoCA and New Museum for Contemporary Art. She was a visiting playwright and professor at the University of Michigan in 2015, and has been a guest artist at Princeton University, Fordham University, New York University and Reed College. Satter attended Mac Wellman’s graduate playwriting program at Brooklyn College, received a B.A. in English from Bowdoin College,and an M.A. in Liberal Studies from Reed College. Her first collection of plays, Seagull (Thinking of you), was published by 53rd State Press in 2014.
