SHE: a multimedia suite on sexual violence, Sandra Bland, and healing

The best way to describe SHE is Eve  Ensler’s THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES meets Ntozake Shange’s FOR COLORED GIRLS. It is dance, it is music, it is about sexual violence, what happened to Sandra Bland after being stopped by a police officer in Texas, and it is storytelling  about healing from trauma and pain. When it premiered in April It featured women who were actual survivors of sexual violence, in their childhoods, as adults, or both. Since then the show has been reworked into a full book written by Jinah Parker.  The show now features 4 actors portraying survivors in addition to 6 dancers that continue to drive the story through movement.  If you happen to see it the first time you are in for a much different and even better ride.  For more information on the show please visit http://www.jinahparker.com/the­show.
