DTW Commissioning Program

    The DTW Commissioning Fund commissions new works by artists at all stages of their careers, provides individualized and comprehensive support (such as fiscal sponsorship and strategic advisement) and carries forward DTW’s estimable legacy of supporting artists in the creation of new work. The DTW Commissioning Fund artists in the 2011-2012 season include Vanessa Anspaugh, Ivy Baldwin, Jen Rosenblit, Trajal Harrell, Jodi Melnick and David Neumann.

    In addition to a commission, performance fee and full production on the Live Arts stage, curated artists selected for the DTW Commissioning Program receive:

    1. A creative residency support in the form of either a full week technical residency in the theater or 40 hours of rehearsal time in the Live Arts studios.

    2. Five-Hours of Customized Consultation with Live Arts staff. The consultations are crafted with the artist’s input and are design to help achieve short-term and long-term developmental goals. During an intake session and interview, Live Arts staff will work with the artist to create a personalized consultation that may cover any combination of the following topics:

      • PR & Marketing
      • Audience Engagement
      • Social Media & Online Engagement
      • Budgeting & Financial Modeling
      • Production/Technical Advisement
      • Fundraising and Proposal Writing
      • Education & Licensing
      • Strategic Planning

    3. Marketing and PR Support for their performance at Live Arts that includes:

      • Writing and distribution of an individual press release
      • Inclusion in Live Arts’ season brochure
      • Online support, including website presence and inclusion in Live Arts’ e-newsletters
      • Design, printing and distribution of 1,000 postcards created for each performances
      • Assistance in designing additional promotional materials in collaboration with artist

    4. Fiscal Sponsorship for the full season of their performance

    5. Comprehensive New York Live Arts Live Guides in PR, Marketing & Engagement, Touring & Self-Production, Budgeting & Infrastructure, Education & Licensing and Fundraising

    6. Reduced rates on Live Arts Workshops and Master Classes

    7. 50% Studio Rental Discount at Live Arts
