Artist Statement

Ayalis In Motion is committed to empower individuals and strengthen diverse communities through the art of movement. We aim to inspire, and engage people of all ages backgrounds and abilities both in their own communities and in our studio space. By inviting people in our world they experience and discover the joy of movement. Our wide range of partnerships with after school programs health centers and local arts institutions allows us to share quality dance experiences with the New York community as well as internationally.


Artistic Director

Ayako Takahashi is a movement based artist, orginally Kanagawa, Japan. She has presented many works nationally and internationally; Boston Contemporary Dance Festival (USA), Reykjavik Dance Festival (Iceland), Seoul International Dance Festival (Korea), Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Nitzotzot (Israel) listed a few. Currently working/dancing with Museum of Fine Arts, Boston resident choreographer/artists (Boston), Mari Natsuki Terroir (Japan), The Next Stage Project, and AZOTH Dance Theatre (France) besides Ayalis in Motion.Ms. Takahashi is also holding MA in Dance/Movement Therapy from Lesley University, and working as R-DMT (Registered Dance/Movement Therapist) and LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and also happy to contribute her work to Doctors without Borders (MSF).

She is dedicated to community outreach as she believes that dance is a healing force as well as a way to connect with people. The past years, she visited diverse communities to provide dance/movement therapy in many regions such as Haiti, Palestinian District, listed a few. She also produced the shows and all proceeds went to Dance for PD® (Parkinson’s Disease), and another show for Doctors without Borders (MSF).
