Blakeley White-McGuire is an Interdisciplinary Artist working primarily with the medium of movement through performance, choreography, video and as catalyst for writing and photo journaling. Her work in dance spans across genres from Modern to Post-Modern, Dance Theater to Opera and animation. She was the featured dancer in Google’s globally popular, Martha Graham Google Doodle. Currently a Principal dancer with the iconic Martha Graham Dance Company, Blakeley actively performs the most dynamic roles in Modern Dance.
Blakeley holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College, Vermont and teaches dance technique internationally. Her writings have been published in Performance Research, U.K., Dance Magazine, The Dance Enthusiast, Dance Films Association Journal and The Huffington Post. For her international performances, Blakeley was honored with the Leonide Massine per La Danza Award by the government of Italy and named Best Performance 2011 and 2012 by Dance Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief. She has served as artist-in-residence at The Art Mill, The Key West Modern Dance Festival, New Ballet Ensemble and her choreographies have been presented at venues including the Downtown Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out and The Joyce Theater.
