Eva Alt

Eva Alt

Eva Alt is a dancer and dance scholar in New York City. Her work spans various disciplines across practice, choreography, teaching, writing, new media, and performance—and presents ballet as a vital social practice and tool for living a beautiful life. Her defining mission is to create more space for people to participate in and be moved by ballet. Eva was one of the founding team members at beauty industry disruptor Glossier, where she led social media since the brand’s conception in 2014, and won two Webby Awards for Best Social.

A live performance and film project conceived by Eva Alt will be performed in downtown New York City in 2021, with affordable tickets and proceeds going to organizations that provide free dance instruction and resources for underprivileged children.

It will present a contemporary reinterpretation and intentional reversal of Balanchine’s Apollo, where Apollo only becomes an artist through experiencing a multiplicity of life perspectives and broader knowledge beyond classical art, shared by the women in the cast.

The work will champion mature ballet artistry and expand ballet’s audience through collaborations with talented artists outside the dance world, as well as increasing accessibility, contextualization, and technology, ultimately forming a hybrid arts community.
