Dances By Very Young Choreographers
Culminating a year’s work with world-renowned dance educator and choreographer Ellen Robbins, each student creates his or her own dance solo, steeped in the unmistakable individualism that resides in every child. Their works span a variety of theater experiences: humorous, dramatic, lyrical, minimal, abstract. Music selections also cover a broad range from Mozart to Spike Jones to Arvo Pärt.
Each of the four unique concerts consist of solos by the students, ages 9 – 18, and the following group pieces:
6/21 at 7:00pm: Carnival of the Animals
6/23 at 7:00pm: Towel Dance, by Ellen Robbins as originally conceived in drawings by Remy Charlip, Mix5 by the teenage class, and two solo excerpts from Ballade by Anna Sokolow.
6/24 at 7:00pm: Secret Service and Cope, each by Ellen Robbins in collaboration with the students.
