CU*T C*NTEMPORARY (Live Feed In-Process)
Please note that this event have been canceled: As the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation has evolved in NYC, New York Live Arts has decided to cancel the Friday, March 13th in-process preview of CU*T C*NTEMPORARY by Ashley R.T. Yergens.
Please note that CU*T C*NTEMPORARY is set to make its world premiere in our next season and we hope you’ll be able to join us then!*
Ashley R.T. Yergens presents an in-process preview of CU*T C*NTEMPORARY: a destination wedding where queer nationalism joins American assimilation of trans bodies in holy matrimony. CU*T C*NTEMPORARY utilizes trans-regurgitated contemporary dances, costumed gay characters, and queer baiting soundtracks to create something akin to a queer tourist (thirst?) trap. This event is not open for review and the press is welcome to attend for research purposes. The world premiere of this work will be part of New York Live Arts’ 2020-2021 Season.
Featured collaborators include: Nico Brown, Justin Faircloth, Nicholas Gorham, Ube Halaya, Madison Krekel, Deborah Lohse, Kristopher K.Q. Pourzal, Eleanor Smith, Quenton Stuckey, Carlo Antonio Villanueva, and TYGAPAW.
The Live Feed creative residency program supports and nurtures the development of new work with residencies and commissions generated over two years.
Lead support of Live Feed is generously provided by Partners for New Performance and Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
