Nia Drummond

Described by The Wall Street Journal as a “moving and electrifying performer,” Nia Drummond
is a Brooklyn-born singer, songwriter, pianist, and historian whose work lives at the intersection
of tradition and transformation. Moving fluidly across opera, jazz, soul, gospel, and spirituals,
she approaches each genre as part of a living archive of Black musical expression. Known as the “First Lady of the Apollo Stages,” she made history with a sold-out performance at the Apollo Theater and has appeared at renowned venues including Madison Square Garden, the Kennedy Center, and the New World Center. She has performed alongside artists such as Elton John, Valerie Simpson, and Josh Groban, and was featured in Renée Fleming’s American Voices on PBS. Whether on concert stages or in sacred spaces, Drummond’s work is rooted in memory, storytelling, and a deep commitment to honoring lineage while reimagining its future.
