CLYMOVE Dance
A Divine Abnormal

Runtime: 2 hours
CLYMOVE Dance’s 2025 Spring Gala and Performances will celebrate the company’s 5th Anniversary Season at New York Live Arts. CLYMOVE’s Annual Gala centers on women’s mentorship and will honor Ana Marie Forsythe and in memoriam Denise Jefferson, both having been Clymene Aldinger’s advisors at The Ailey School (1998-2002). Current Co-Director of The Ailey School/Director of the Ailey Fordham BFA Program, Melanie Person, will serve as Gala Chair and present this year’s honorees with the Elisa Monte Leadership Legacy Award (established in 2023 for its namesake and Aldinger’s Artistic Advisor Elisa Monte). The program will include six works, a return of commissioned choreographer and founding dancer JoVonna Parks’ Inner Tides, as well as four works of repertory spanning 2019-2025, and the World Premiere of Aldinger’s new creation Martha Always Said.
“CLYMOVE Dance is a collective to be on the lookout for. The powerhouse company left the sold-out house of Ailey Citigroup Theater erupting on their feet.” –Kristen Hedberg, The Dance Enthusiast, April 2024
“It’s what I enjoy most about this company’s work. I respond to their intellectual playfulness and nuanced expression. With clever movement, irony, and unexpected choreography, they open up space for humor, lightness, and critical thinking. The lightheartedness doesn’t diminish the potential for deeper meaning. But invites, audiences to a break from the emotional fatigue of our times.” –Barney Yates, New York Theatre Wire, April 2024
