Say My Name, Say My Name: Stories of LGBTQ Youth from New Orleans

Say My Name, Say My Name: Stories of LGBTQ Youth from New Orleans is a collaboration between Ping Chong + Company and BreakOUT! Written and directed by Sara Zatz and Mieke Dee and based on interviews, writings and conversations with the cast and members of BreakOUT!, this 45 minute theatrical performance features the true stories and life experiences of 5 Black transgender young women who are members of BreakOUT!  It explores the dynamics of growing up transgender against the backdrop of New Orleans, the incarceration capital of the world, and the fierce power of self-identification. Say My Name is part of Ping Chong + Company’s Undesirable Elements project, an oral history theater project exploring issues of culture, identity, and difference in the lives of individuals in specific communities.
