Ben Asriel

Benjamin Ford Asriel grew up in Glasgow, Kentucky where he cultivated his love of art in his mother’s dance classes, on the soccer field, and with the GHS Marching Band. After this idyllic upbringing, Ben found his way to Brown University, graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor’s in Music, and continued to NYU TISCH for his Dance MFA. Since graduating, Benjamin has performed locally, nationally, and internationally with several NYC-based choreographers, composed original sound for dance (Juliana May’s Hydra Cashier @ DTW), choreographed for theater (Hotel Savant’s The Cenci @ The Ohio), and created his own work—most notably as a member of the collaborative performance group Basic Assembly, which presented its first evening—GAME ON—at The Chocolate Factory in May. In addition to having the great fortune to work with his dear friends/esteemed colleagues in projectLIMB, Benjamin currently performs with Walter Dundervill and Edisa Weeks, teaches at Queens College, and maintains his own choreographic research/fundraising venture—Project Paper Trail—which he documents on his website: www.basriel.com.
