Artist Statement

cherry brice jr. is a queer, Brooklyn-born artist who explores the everyday world through the feverish and the fantastic. cherry lived in Haiti until the age of eleven and graduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in Economics.

An economist-turned-surrealist, cherry is the host and curator of CineSymposia—a radical film screening series and installation piece at Anthology Film Archives—and Ace of Shade—a regularly-sold-out monthly comedy show at New York City’s Duplex Cabaret Theatre. cherry’s work has been presented, distributed, and supported by The Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Sex, The New York Foundation for the Arts, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The New York Times, and The Film-Makers’ Coop—on whose board cherry currently serves.

cherry is currently hard at work on the decolonial opera SWEET HOME. Your contribution will enable the creation of this metaphysical, manifesto opus.
