Sacha Vega

SACHA VEGA is an artist who collages movement, poetics, and humor to examine the ideologies that train bodies to move. Working across performance, time-based media, and writing, her practice stages forms of critical play that reframe genres of embodied instruction.

She has presented work at Westbeth Gallery, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church, Leslie-Lohman Museum, 3AM Theatre, FringeArts, PhilaMoCA, Baxter St x CCNY, and Pelham Art Center. In 2025, she directed two evening-length works at 3AM Theatre: 1-Way Mirror (June 2025), choreographed by [REDACTED], a dance-theatre work exploring transmasculine identity; and PINCH (December 2025), a trio dance-theatre work that she directed and performed in, engaging questions of safety, control, and possibility.

Vega is a 2025–2026 New York Live Arts Fresh Tracks artist and a 2026 Da Vinci Arts Alliance Collective Futures Fellow. She has participated in residencies and intensive programs including New Dance Alliance’s Satellite Program, LEIMAY’s Spring Incubator, Van Noord Van Noord, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, and Pig Iron Theatre Company’s Summer Session and NEH Summer Institute (2023–2024), as well as earlier residencies with the Wassaic Project, Casa Tagumerche, Stoneleaf Retreat, and ARTHA Project. She has led workshops at Abrons Art Center, Performance Space NY, Flux Factory, and the Zimmerli Museum of Art, and has performed in works by Kim Brandt, Tina Bararian, and Mia Martelli.

She holds a BFA in Photography from Pratt Institute and an MFA in Visual Art from Mason Gross School of the Arts, where she teaches media and performance courses. She will attend Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in summer 2026.
