YYDC
YYDC is a nonprofit contemporary dance company dedicated to the teaching, production and performance of original choreography by founder and artistic director Yue Yin. Yin’s work draws on her original movement vocabulary—FOCO Technique™—a fusion of Chinese classical dance, folk forms, ballet and contemporary vocabulary. As the recipient of the 2021 Harkness Promise Award, the winner of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago 2015 International Commissioning Project, winner of the 2015 BalletX Choreographic Fellowship, and winner of Northwest Dance Project’s 5th Annual Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition in 2013, Yin’s work has been widely recognized for its innovative, complex and nuanced composition.
Under Yin’s direction, the company has presented its works to live audiences on U.S. and international stages including Teatro Ristori Verona, Teatro Comunale di Modena and Rassegnamusike (Italy), Belgrade Dance Festival (Serbia), Schrit_tmacher Festival (Germany), SummerStage in New York City, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, BAM Fisher, Chelsea Factory and many more. YYDC is currently in the creative process for the world premiere of SOMEWHERE, the second full length dance production of the trilogy exploring the energetic and magnetic impact of our existence and the sensory network we share with each other that defines the meaning and purpose of life.
In addition to production and performance, YYDC is committed to the educational effort of sharing, teaching and developing of FOCO Technique™ for aspiring dancers and FOCO X Community classes for movement practitioners everywhere.
