A Prophet’s Tale: Portrait of the Lyricist is a multi-year, iterative Literary, Music, and Performance Project, discussing the life-journey’s of Hip Hop music’s Emcee/Lyricist. What makes an Emcee/Lyricist? Is it the lyricism, their performance, or the way they’ve lived their lives? 7NMS|Marjani Forté-Saunders + Everett Saunders is drawing attention to the life journey that shaped the thinking of an Emcee by connecting them to the iconic narratives, of those who’ve been heralded throughout history, literature, and fantasy; ultimately sharing a timely, personal, and universal story of transcendence, ingenuity, and maturation.

This project will include an element of Augmented Reality as part of a pre-show or auxiliary installment to further draw audiences into the riveting, gravitas and milestones of this story. AR/VR alongside live performance, is an exciting evolution in our work, that we hope will render more mobility, play, and immersion for our audiences, while retaining the magic of live performance and sound.

A Prophet’s Tale began early development with residencies at The Petronio Residency Center (Sept 2019) and The Baryshnikov Arts Center (Nov 2019). Anticipated premiere dates for the performance project are Fall 2021/Spring 2022.
