Originally filmed June 13, 2020

Saturday June 13 from 1 pm to 6 pm, our Artistic Director Bill T. Jones will be in the lobby of New York Live Arts for a unique pop-up event that he’s titled Action/Phase 1: Reading. Bill T. will be reading in-person (at a distance) excerpts from Moby Dick, Invisible Man, The Bible, and more!
Bill remarks:

“This action, for me, is an exploration and affirmation of the connection between the life of the mind, social evolution and the mysterious precincts of heart that inform creative people at all times, and particularly at a time with so much upheaval and uncertainty. In my isolation, I have gone through my library, which is in some way revisiting a pantheon of heroes, villains, the mausoleum of ideas, and the maternity wards of notions of what the future might be. I am reading as a way of thinking.”

We will still participate in #OpenYourLobby, providing accessible bathrooms, water, hand sanitizer, charging stations, and snacks for the protesting activists in our community. Please join us outside of 219 West 19th Street while maintaining social distance and wear a mask.

Bill will be amplified.
