Liliana Dirks-Goodman: The Feminist Dinner Party: Present/Future

New York Live Arts Lobby
Mar 8, 2020 at 5 pm & 8 pm
Tickets start at $35

The Feminist Dinner Party: Present/Future focuses on time, utopia, and the imagination — an occasion to look at both the history of our culture and our own experiences of the past in order to dream for the future.

By 2050, the earth’s population is forecasted to reach 9.1 billion and in order to feed everyone, our food production will have to increase by 70% — a monumental task in a short amount of time. At a time when we are stretching our planet’s natural resources to their limit, food production and consumption is just one of the necessities of life that we will have to reimagine and innovate. Feminist practice in art and design, and collective care, a guiding principle of feminism, can help us to imagine a way forward where everyone’s basic needs are met as we progress through these challenges. At this dinner party, we will look at both the present and an imagined future through the dinner itself and its’ place settings designed by Liliana Dirks-Goodman, as well as, presentations from the artist and special guests.

Guests/ticket buyers are encouraged to bring a small object that they imagine encourages healing. The object(s) will be returned at the end of the event.
