Live Ideas: John Zorn: Music for Piano, Strings and Percussion
New York City native John Zorn presents two sets of music featuring some of his most distinguished musical cohorts. In the Hall of Mirrors features the incredible virtuoso Stephen Gosling performing complex and challenging exactly notated piano pieces accompanied by a dynamic improvising rhythm section of Tyshawn Sorey and Christian McBride. In the second set, Middle Eastern influences abound as oud virtuoso Kinan Idnawi performs music from Zorn’s lyrical and long running Masada project along with Erik Friedlander and Satoshi Takeishi.
