New York Live Arts’ Post-Show Sounds at the Live Arts Gallery Café will present live music in the Live Arts lobby after performance presentations during its 2017-2018 season. Curated by Special Projects Manager Tyler Ashley, the new series provides up-and-coming musicians the chance to share new work in an informal setting. Continuing the series on December 16th, 9-10 PM is the mesmerizing Erica Kenia, following zoe | juniper’s final performance of their multi-disciplinary performance, Clear & Sweet.
In her nearly twenty years as an artist working in New York City, Erica Kenia has been living overlapping lives, experimenting with many different mediums. After graduating from Parsons and working for years as a visual artist, in 2010 Kenia was introduced to electronic music by her partner Jon Nicholson. She started collaborating with his project SSPS and eventually joined experimental music outfit EXCEPTER in 2014. Although music is a newer practice, she quickly found her own voice and began recording and playing under the name GRAMMA. Kenia’s long form compositions are dark and layered with building rhythms, wandering in and out of chaos.
