For her Studio Series showing, Moriah Evans will present an early incarnation of Social Dance 9-12: Engine (working title), a choreographic system in search of dance. Evans unfolds one possible core of the choreographic, where mind, muscles and affects are at work together towards the transmission of sentiment. In an open process for performers and audience, movements of memory, repetition and simulation get filled with life and exchange. Here, the choreographic is a process which is social in origin but biological and physical in effect.
In-process talk moderated by Yve Laris Cohen.
Support for the Studio Series is provided, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
