Salvatore LaRussa
SALVATORE LARUSSA- (CHOREOGRAPHER/ ARTISTIC DIRECTOR/ SLDT) a native New Yorker, born and-raised in Queens, NY, is a graduate of Hofstra University with a BA in Dance and a minor in Drama Studies under the direction of Lance Westergard. LaRussa premiered his first NYC season in 2004 which marked the start of his company, Salvatore
LaRussa Dance Theatre. SLDT has performed extensively in New York City in traditional and non-traditional spaces, including New York Live Arts (Present), Ailey Citigroup Theater and Merce Cunningham Studio. LARUSSA’s awards include, Discretionary Awards from Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr; Council Member Robert F. Holden; NYC Department of Youth and Cultural Development; New York Council on the Arts; Flushing Town Hall Queens Community Grant and Howard Gilman Foundation GO Queens Grant; and New York Federation for the Arts (NYFA) and Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Queens Art Fund: Arts Access Grant; and NYSA-A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund. LaRussa received critical acclaim in Dance Europe Magazine where Tim Martin writes, – “…another example of LaRussa’s excellent sense of dance theatre.”
