Live Arts Pride 2018 – THE HOUSE PARTY

THE HOUSE PARTY is a building wide and sidewalk celebration in the historic gayborhood, Chelsea, just blocks from the pride march. The daylong performance party embodies the historical importance and unwavering power of houses in LGBTQAI culture. Queer nightlife and art scene come together under one roof to serve up the city’s most colorful and fierce performance, music and more for a multi-space, back-to-back, party for the ages! Featuring young, diverse, provocative, and inclusive artist collectives Bubble_T, Bushwig, Casa Diva, Papi Juice, and Switch n’ Play. Each of the legendary houses in-the-making will express their distinct voices in two-hour performance sets.

The open-air lobby will be free and open to the public and feature These bags we carry are filled with promise, a largescale kaleidoscopic installation by Nick Cave and Bob Faust. Pop-up shops featuring fashions for sale by local queer designers Claire Fleury, Valentine Amartey, Ten Yards Clothing, Cilium, and Planet Modah Cosmetics as well as surprise DJ sets and drag performances will activate the street front to embrace LGBTQAI exchange and commerce.

The day is part of a year of programming that remembers and re-introduces Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company Co-founder, Arnie Zane and a portion of the ticket sales will benefit the neighborhood’s Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.
