Lumberyard
LUMBERYARD’s mission—to help performing artists make the work they have imagined—is realized by providing artists with development opportunities so they can be technically ready for premiering work. LUMBERYARD In The City Festival was developed to address the decline in premiere opportunities for New York City artists by presenting their fully produced work to New York City audiences. Now in its third season, LUMBERYARD has supported and presented more than a dozen new works by Yvonne Rainer, Brian Brooks, Susan Marshall, Jack Ferver and Cynthia Hopkins, among others.
To enable LUMBERYARD to provide even more artists with the opportunity to realize their visions and provide an out-of-town premiere facility for New York City presenters, we identifed and purchased property in New York’s Hudson Valley. Our new campus will offer a much higher level of support for artists and audiences alike, bringing to fruition LUMBERYARD’s highest ambition: to shape the future of American contemporary performing arts by substantially elevating the quality of new work and cultivating informed, expanding audiences.
