Composer

NICK HALLETT is a musician, artist, and curator.  His seven scores for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company include Deep Blue Sea (2021) and What Problem? (2020). Hallett served as composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and music director on the international tours of the Analogy Trilogy (2015-2017) and A Letter to My Nephew (2015).  His first collaboration with the company was Fishkill/Movements 1-45 (2014), a site-specific performance at a medium security men’s correctional facility in upstate New York.  Hallett received a 2017 Bessie Award with Ishmael Houston-Jones and Miguel Gutierrez for Variations on Themes from Lost & Found: Scenes from a Life and Other Works by John Bernd.  His music and transdisciplinary projects have been presented in New York at Town Hall, MoMA, the Whitney, the Guggenheim, Hayden Planetarium, BAM, Performa, New Museum, The Kitchen, Danspace, Roulette, BOFFO, and ISSUE Project Room.  Whispering Pines 10, a cross-platform opera collaboration with Shana Moulton, has been staged, screened, streamed, and exhibited globally.  Hallett teaches on the faculties of The New School and School of Visual Arts.
