New York Kathak Festival 2026

The New York Kathak Festival returns with a weekend of performances, workshops, and conversations that honor the classical depth and contemporary voice of kathak.

This year’s headlining artists include:
Prashant Shah, a celebrated soloist, choreographer, and teacher, trained under Padma Bhushan Kumudini Lakhia, known for his powerful presence and cross-genre exploration. Accompanied by Satyaprakash Mishra, Indro Roy-Chowdhury, Rohan Misra, and Samarth Nagarkar.

Sandip Mallick, a leading exponent of the Lucknow gharana, described as a “spinning mathematician” performs with Mike Lukshis, Indro Roy-Chowdhury, and Biplab Mukherjee.

Samarth Nagarkar, Hindustani vocalist, presents “Bandish Ki Thumri: Rhythm and Rasa” with Tejas Tope, Rohan Misra, and Rohan Prabhudesai.
