“What seems to count most for Ms. Johnson is music. The four pieces on the program all showed uncommon skill at matching ballet movement to music, both at the large scale of structure and in small, felicitous details.”-Brian Seibert, The New York Times, 2015

An exciting program of 4 contemporary dance works in Ms. Johnson’s unique vocabulary which stems from a ballet base. The pieces are set to music including Osvaldo Golijov, Mark Mellitts and Handel. The evening includes two world premieres and a revival from 2012 for 5 women. The Company features 10 dancers each with an individually expressive approach to Ms. Johnsons work. Lydia Johnson Dance has been consistently praised for the musicality of Ms. Johnsons choreography and for the emotional expression embedded in her predominantly abstract work.
