Applications for the 2024 – 2025 Fresh Tracks Residency and Performance program have closed!
We’re proud to announce this season’s four Fresh Tracks artists! After an invigorating audition period, the 60th cohort artists are (alphabetically by last name): Maxi Canion, Kashia Kancey, Jade Manns and ayo ohs.
New York Live Arts’ Fresh Tracks Residency & Performance program is a season-long residency for emerging movement-based artists in support of new work creation and professional development. This season marks the 60th Anniversary of Fresh Tracks which was a signature program of Dance Theater Workshop to bring new choreographic artistry to the forefront.
Four artists will be selected through an in-person interview style audition process. The residency includes:
- an Artistic Fee of $5,000 and 50 gratis studio hours to support the development of a 15 minute performance work;
- professional development workshops led by renowned professionals from the field;
- Live Core Artist Membership;
- guidance from choreographer Juliana May, as Artistic Advisor;
- support from New York Live Arts’ communications, development, production and programming staff towards a fully-produced shared program in New York Live Arts theater.
HOW TO APPLY FOR AN AUDITION
Through an open-call application, 16 pre-selected choreographers will be invited to an in person interview in front of a panel of artists and professionals from the field. The interview will begin by viewing the video of the work submitted virtually. It will also include questions from the panel relating to their background, their work, their creative goals and what they hope to gain from the residency workshops. Please read through these guidelines before applying. If you are a choreographer who is part of a team, one of you may apply on behalf of the group. You may not save applications in process. Once applications are submitted they cannot be edited.

- In-person audition at Live Arts: Saturday, September 14 2024
- Notification of selection or decline: Tuesday, September 17 2024
- Selected artists announced: Week of September 23 or September 30 2024
Each interview slot is twenty minutes long. Please read the guidelines below to determine your eligibility. There is no fee to audition.
