H.T. Chen & Dancers

Over the past 3 decades, choreographer H.T. Chen has created a body of work that gives poetic voice to Asians in America. His signature works include Hidden Voices, Transparent Hinges and Bian Dan. Mr. Chen has been the recipient of the NYC Mayor’s Award for Arts & Culture, the Martha Hill Dance Fund Mid-Career Award, the NYS Governor’s Arts Award, the OCA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Bessies Special Citation. His company, H.T. Chen & Dancers, performs innovative pieces blending contemporary dance with traditional Asian aesthetics. CHEN DANCE CENTER opened in 1988 as the first professional performance space in New York City’s Chinatown. It is the creative hub for its touring dance company and offers a thriving, community driven performing arts school and an intimate, black box performance space.
