Juliana F. May/MAYDANCE
Juliana F. May, a New York City native, graduated from Oberlin College in 2002 with a dual degree in Dance and Art History. Recently commissioned by Dance Theater Workshop to create Gutter Gate (February 2011), their newest evening length work, May has also been produced by Dance New Amsterdam, The Catch Series and The Chocolate factory Theater. May’s work has been featured in dance festivals throughout the United States and abroad including a commission by the International Contemporary Ensemble (I.C.E.) in Chicago, Illinois and The Repertory Project, a Cleveland-based company. In the fall of 2009 May was an adjunct Professor of dance at Barnard College of Columbia University where she set new work on the students as a part of Th Barnard Project at Dance Theater Workshop. May has received numerous space grants from Dance Theater Workshop and the Brooklyn Arts Exchange including a Manhattan Community arts fund grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Development of new work takes place in New York City, where the company is based. May is currently an MFA candidate in Choreography at The University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
