Post-Show Sounds at the Live Gallery Cafe: Richard Kennedy
New York Live Arts’ Post-Show Sounds at the Live Gallery Café will present live music in the Live Arts lobby after performance presentations during its 2017-2018 season. Curated by Special Projects Manager Tyler Ashley, the new series provides up-and-coming musicians the chance to share new work in an informal setting. Kicking off the series is the electrifying Richard Kennedy, following Preeti Vasudevan’s final performance of her dance-theater solo, Stories by Hand.
Since the release of his soul-noise synth heavy EP , Open Wound In a Pool of Sharks, Kennedy will be sharing seeds of a more acoustic, intimate exploration. Kennedy curates performance art throughout Brooklyn, has written songs for Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair, and casted for fashion designer Luar Zepol. He has choreographed for SSION, Chino Amobi, and DonChristian. Richard has been featured in and casted videos for NOWNESS, Nicopanda, and Hercules & Love Affair. Richard wrote You Can Shine (MR. INTL), and For Some Reason (Crew Love) before releasing his debut EP Open Wound in a Pool of Sharks (Sweat Equity, 2016). He presented two operas, Black Rage and Comeuppance at Signal in 2016. In 2017 he featured the ballet Both at Artists Space, From.Under.Above at MoMA PS1, Everything is Gonna be OK at Danspace, and composed music for Incense Sweaters and Ice (Martine Syms/MOMA). Richard will end the year with the debut of his new project The Infinity Beach Suite at Performa After hours November 16.
