DUŠAN TÝNEK DANCE THEATRE
DUŠAN TÝNEK DANCE THEATRE 2016 Program
A World and NYC Premiere Plus the Joyful Return of the Acclaimed Romanesco Suite
This year’s program will feature the NYC Premiere of Logbook, a 2013 work for the entire company inspired by the tale of Ulysses and Penelope and their powerful perseverance in the quest for love and reunion. Set to music by Aleksandra Vrebalov.
The program will also feature Romanesco Suite, which touches upon ideas found in fractured and geometric shapes occurring in nature. Romanesco is a vegetable whose form is a natural approximation of fractals. The highly charged work for eight dancers is accompanied by a recording of 17-year cicadas that emerged in summer of 2013 and is a playful, abstract reflection on the natural order of relationships.
Closing the program will be the world premiere of Tethered Light, set to “Tenebre” by Bryce Dessner and is an athletic tour-de-force where chaos and harmony lie in a precarious balance.
